I can confidently say that I no longer need to look into buying an AutoCAD license for my own teaching/draughting needs. I actually love AutoCAD for graphic design applications so being able to get a scalable drawing from a free CAD app is going to be invaluable. I’ve also tried the SVG export into Inkscape and it’s flawless. I’ve tested import and export and it’s just like using AutoCAD. I’ve been going over some of my old lessons and they translate perfectly to DraftSight. It may be lacking some of the newer features, but for my uses, it more than replicates ACAD 2007 which is the last version I taught on at my college.
I’ve been lecturing in AutoCAD for 20 years and this is almost a 100% AutoCAD clone - even down to command line entry.
